Passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at Port Fairy.
Beloved husband for 51 years of Heather (dec.).
Adored father and father-in-law of Michael (dec.), Meredith and Riquito, David and Jeanene, Richard (dec.) and Mary-Anne, Fiona and Keith.
Treasured Pa to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friend to all.

Condolences to you Fiona and your families. Grief is the price of great love, may your memories be of comfort in this difficult time. I have not met him Fiona but the tributes reflect a man of great kindness who affected many lives. May his soul rest in peace, thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincere condolences to Meredith, Fiona, David and families. Sorry to hear that your beloved father, Grandfather Bob has passed. A gentleman, along with Heather, loved their family and the community at large. Bob always spoke to everyone with a huge smile, and was a good listener. Re-united with Heather, Michael and Richard. Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Bob, who was our lovely neighbour at the best end of the East Beach for many years. He and Heather were always up for a visit and chat whenever we got down to PF.

began with the City of Melbourne over sixty years ago and we have enjoyed Bob's wonderful friendship ever since. Our family have happy memories of yearly treks with a Melbourne group of friends to stay for weekends with Bob, Heather and family at Hawkesdale and Port Fairy.

David, Meredith & Fiona & families - Love & sincere condolences from the extended Birrell family on the passing of their dear friend Bob. Bob was a lifelong friend to Peter (dec.) & Barbara and there is a close bond between the families. Many jovial long weekends were spent in Hawkesdale & Port Fairy with the extended ‘Hawkesdale Mob’. Bob was a true gentleman and a great friend with a natural wit and he will be sadly missed.

Meredith, Fiona, David and families. We were so sorry to hear that Bob had passed away. He and Heather were one of the first people we met when we came to Koroit in 1970, and then later at Penshurst. They were so friendly and supportive to us in many ways and always made us welcome. A couple of memories- Bob painting his boat 'guide post white' and marking on the mousetraps each time he caught one! We often remember back to you guys waiting out on our front verandah for mum to come and pick you up from the school bus! Love to you all. Steve & Leonie London, Benalla.

Best wishes and condolences to Meredith, Fiona, David and families. We remember many wonderful times with the Towlers, as far back as Greensborough in the 1950's. Bob was a thorough gentleman, and it was a privilege to know him - The McDowell Family.

Bob was a valued and much respected member of the Port Fairy-Belfast Lions Club. He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by all for his friendship, commitment to Lions, his wit and not least his ability as a raconteur.
