   you were a great mate especially your Mendooran years .A couple of my greatest memories are the long after parties at Ulungra that went on far too long or when your oldes returned and your habit of winding down the window of my GT falcon and calling out PLAY ME SOME MUSIC as we went through a town.

5. Archie was one of those rare people you’re lucky to meet once or twice in life.

   To call him a character would be selling him short. He had principles. He could be difficult but underneath there was real humour and dignity.

   Friday nights at D’Oliveira’s in Fitzroy; few VBs, good conversation, not to be missed.

   Farewell, Archie. It was an honour to know you.

6. I was very sorry to learn of Alistair’s death and extend my sympathy to all of his family and friends. Our early childhoods were intertwined as a result of a close bond of friendship between our mothers, who had worked together at Warrnambool & District Base Hospital at the end of the Second World War. Sorry that I will be unable to attend his funeral service.

7. What a man, what a life, what a way to leave this earthly plane. In so many ways on his own terms.

   Uncle Alistair always had a twinkle despite the many tough hands dealt to him. Never complaining.

   Always beautifully belligerent and (mostly!) excellent company. 🤣
   A precious relationship as his proud Niece and I will always count my blessings that we got to call him Uncle.

   Forever hugely grateful for the significant times I got to spend with him - road trips and fun Melbourne days with the boys and Bolto. A home from home.

   RIP Uncle A. You’ll be amongst so many people who adored you. Pip, Pa, Peter and Alex especially.

   We’ll look after that amazing little sis of yours, Mum. 🩷

9. Alistair and I met as new fathers in 1987. I have known him for 39 years as a loving father and a loyal friend. He faced adversity with courage and insight. He will be greatly missed by his many friends.

11. Concur with what Mark has said. Arch was in some ways another brother to me as we knew he and his family for many years with each of our family's going through difficult times insuring that we were there for each other. RIP.
