The Memorial Service for LYNDSAY will be held at the Eastern Park Chapel, 271 Raglan Parade, Warrnambool on TUESDAY (July 2) commencing at 2.00pm.

Every now and then in life a special person comes along who is loved by all. That was Lindsay. I worked with Lindsay for many years at 3YB. He was a man full of kindness, respect, humour, a great work ethic, and a genuine interest in everyone he met. Lindsay, together with the late Jonny Holland, hold a very special place in my heart . Condolences to Barb and family.

My condolences to the Hill family on the passing of Lyndsay. A true gentleman, always willing to go that extra mile to help where needed and spending time explaining all those little details. Whether it was fixing jukeboxes or pinball machines or even playing badminton. An unfortunate loss to everyone who knew him.

3YB FM wish to express our condolences to the family of Lyndsay Hill.
A voice synonymous with local sport, Lyndsay broadcast over 700 Hampden League matches over a three decade span on 3YB.
The majority of those, were alongside his close friend and calling partner, the late John Holland.
The Hampden League "Hall of Famer" was also heavily involved in 3YB's coverage of the iconic Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic.

Sending our love to Barb.and your family at this sad time. When I started at 3YB in 1976, Lindsay was an integral part of the sports scene, and I got to know him well over this time. I just loved the preparation he put into his sports shows, and footy coverage, and at the same time he was such a true gentleman in life. One of the funniest things I remember, was when he and John Holland were doing a footy preview, live, when Jack Walker walked into the studio, and took the Standard off them, which they were using at the time!! He was such a big part of the sports side of the station, and will be missed greatly. Best wishes, Steve and Gaye Welsh.

RIP Lyndsay - provided me with part time work at the bowl whilst I was studying at Deaken. A better boss I could not have asked for. A man who genuinely cared about you in all chats. Sure he was the same with everyone. Very generous in all aspects. Thoughts and prayers to his family at this time.

Dear Barbara and family. It has been a sad week for Lyndsay’s close golfing mates over many years, namely Tony O’Dowd, Bill Wright, Rex Conn and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed our golf together which was always competitive, especially when 20 cent digits were at stake! Lyndsay was always a great putter and as a result we always wanted to have him as a partner for the digits. It is absolutely true to say that Lyns was one of nature’s gentlemen. He always expressed his great gratitude for anything that was done for him in his later years. To Barb and family, you are in our thoughts and you can be very proud of the legacy left by your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Love and sympathy to dear Barbara, Jenni, Trudey, Warren and families on the passing of Lyndsay, brother-in-law of Maggie & Neil and uncle of Rolf, Anna and Diethard-Paul. He was such an efficient, fair and fun Boss to work for at Colac Bowl in the 1960s too.
We will always remember Lyndsay’s warm welcoming smiles and cheerful laughs. Lyndsay saw the best in people, understood their quirks and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.
All our family were very proud of Lyndsay when he played footy for the Colac Tigers and later when he branched out to coaching and involvement with many other sports in differing capacities.

Condolences to Barbara and family. It was a pleasure and an honour to work alongside Lyndsay in the commentary box during his time calling Hampden football with John Holland. They were a great combination. Lyndsay the calm, earnest voice and John more excitable and funny. Although there was competition between the press and radio, Lyndsay was always polite, friendly and supportive to representatives of The Standard newspaper. It’s an old-fashioned thing to say but I think it fits: a gentleman.

I'm so saddened to read of Lindsay's passing. We broadcast footy together on 3YB in 1975/76. He was very much my mentor, well before that word was commonly used. I couldn't have wished for anyone better. And thanks to Lindsay, I was still commentating [in the SANFL] up til 5 years ago. My thoughts & prayers are with his family.
