Loved grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 16.

The Funeral Mass for MAUREEN will be offered at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lava Street, Warrnambool on FRIDAY (March 20) commencing at 1.00p.m.
The cortège will leave the Church at the conclusion of Funeral Mass for the Tooram Memorial Park Cemetery.

My thoughts are with the Finnegan family along with Ray, Lorraine, Bob. and their families. Maureen was one of the good people, her unconditional love for her family and friends was contagious. Maureen will be so sadly missed however, Matt, the love of her life is waiting!!

I, and no doubt many others, were blessed by being unconditionally loved by Maureen. Her wisdom, empathy, patience and huge generosity meant that no matter what was going on in your life, or for that matter her life, you were always greeted with a big smile and time to sit down and have a cup of tea. You could not help but be richer and better after those cups of tea. Maureen lived being a Christian in the true sense every day and all who came in contact with her, learned from her and benefitted by her.

My sincere condolences to Megan, Peter, Danni, Gerard and their families. Also to Bob and Ray on the passing of Maureen.
Maureen is part of a life time of memories including Cobden, The Dairy Farm, Swan St. and lots of discussions over the years.
Maureen's kindness and compassion for others always shone through.
I sustained a serious ankle injury one year playing Volleyball in Warrnambool and somehow Maureen found where we staying took one look at me and said no way your going back to Geelong today, so I stayed overnight with her and Matt, she drove my car home with me the next day and then took the train back to Warrnambool that afternoon and the crutches that needed to go back to Warrnambool Hospital.
We had many laughs and serious conversations and her advice was always welcomed.
Whilst I could never agree with her team of choice in AFL football, I was delighted for her (& Matt) when they did well (except when they played us 😊)

I knew maureen mat and family growing up living in the same street as them.I have lived on corner of queens road and swan steet for almost 30 years now.I also chatted to matt when he walked his wippet past every day.I use to talk to maureen aswell .A very kind loving lady.My condolences to all of her family at this time.Tania and boys and all the lockland families .

Our lovely Maureen has left us. She was the oldest of us 26 cousins on the Rhodes side of the family. Perhaps the most caring, kindest and most loving person we have ever had the privilege to meet and share our lives with. To her loving family, Edna and I offer our most sincere condolences for the loss of Maureen, but we know that in all of you there will be part of her that helps you through this most difficult time.

Our love goes out to Megan, Peter, Danni and Gerard and to her brothers Bob and Ray. Her parents were people of integrity whom I respected dearly. Maureen had that same quality, always having a real soft spot for people who were struggling, the ones going through tough times. She had that kind of heart, full of compassion but not reckless about it always trying to find a practical way to help. And justice mattered to her, giving everyone a fair shot, even if life threw curveballs and made things messy.
She will be dearly missed but not forgotten in the places that truly matter as she is carried now to join her beloved Matt. I am forever grateful to have experienced her friendship for over 74 years.

I am very sad to learn about the passing of beautiful Maureen. At every church event she would save me a seat and I'd listen in awe as she'd speak so compassionately and advocative about all the humans in our world.
Her caring nature was evident in so many ways. I know Maureen asked that the church publicly pray for the people of Gaza during a time where many people stayed silent.
I loved seeing Maureen's facebook posts- she would repost every lost pet, person or thing no matter where in the country they went missing, just incase she could help at all.
In true Maureen fashion, I notice that her final facebook post is an attempt at helping a stranger. She has left a legacy of grace and justice.
I once asked Maureen what the recipe for a life well lived is, and she told me 'to forgive easily'. I cherish the many meals, conversations and milestones I got to share with Maureen. My love goes out to everyone in her family x.
