James was always the character, with a heart of gold. He was alway so proud of his family and always wanted to show them off. I loved the times we shared when he would pop in and visit me whilst in melbourne - we would always end up sharing a laugh and a beer or 2, or 3 or 4. God he will be missed. The service was beautiful, thanks for allowing us to share. condolences to all, especially Sam and kids, darren, joy, lee anne and merrilyn and families, my heart breaks for you all. xxxxxxx

I first met James 31years ago when I was 14. Jerrod Conlan introduced me to James as they were launching their boat to go and pull their nets, they were catching shark bait for dad.
They invited me to go with them so I stashed my bike and we went out to the light house reef. The nets were in close and at times we were sitting in the white wash, they both assured me we were ok.
When we got back Jimbob gave me a warm Melbourne stubby for giving them a hand.
From that day on we shared many a good times and adventures.
Last time I seen Jimbob was when we both took our families to see AC⚡️DC Rock or Bust with Pee Wee and Ange.
It was good music, good company and good times, what we all loved.
Every trip to Port Fairy Mum and Dads was the first port of call then visit the Grandmothers and then out to visit Jimbob and Sam.
My heart goes out to Sam and family as Australia has lost another treasured larrikin.
Will always be remembered as a great friend a great bloke.

Dear Sam and Family,
Jimbob was one of a kind and Port Fairy won’t be the same without him. He was such a great fella and we have so many fond memories over many years.

I am so deeply sorry and saddened for you all.
