I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you before you passed Cheryle… You were the oldest daughter of the O’Keefe sisters in Birchip my oldest cousin. As a child I looked up to you and Helen as my role models just loved everything about you both. So many memories. You sitting around the pool as a teen in Birchip sunbaking to making mud pies at the Foott cafe in Abbott st. Years have flown by as they do but great childhood memories stay forever.

Anne Lamb October 21, 2025 “Hello Cheryle,
I do fondly remember our days as children attending our primary school years in Birchip at the Immaculate Heart of Mary school. Sister Frances de Sales taught us each and every year …. we could not escape her AND upon reflection she taught us very well. I still recall as a youngster that it was either Mother Benedict or more likely the formidable Mother Brendan, during one of our catechism classes, always held just before lunch, stating that our Cheryle was not a Saints name? Maybe, maybe not, however Cheryle, you were always kind, beloved, respectful, compassionate, and physically strikingly tall and with beautiful teeth, a beautiful smile; and like all of us ….. of the Mallee country of sunburnt children.” I extend my sincere condolences to David and the entire extended family.
James (Tim) Sheridan October 19, 2025 Living with Chez in a shared flat in my younger adult life was a privilege I am grateful to have had. I had already experienced her wonderful good nature while at boarding school where she showed amazing strength of character and support for those around her.
Her acceptance of life and her wish to care for those around her were certainly some of the strengths that I admired so greatly.
I always found that in those early years of our adult life when the waters became a little stormy she was like a tranquil bay where her calmness of spirit reinvigorated those around her.
The memories I have of this time are deeply treasured.
Thankyou Chez for the time we had and for those wonderful memories. Ann Ryan

Kaye Johnstone October 18, 2025 Dear Chez,
I’m content that you are no longer bound by the restrictions of human frailties & resting peacefully.
From a purely selfish point of view & if I was in charge ! I would love to have my big sister back, full of optimism & smiling broadly. Not enough of this in the world today.
Too say that you had an impact on my life is definitely an understatement, particularly in our formative years in Birchip & then on to boarding school.
I particularly recall counting down the weeks & then days when you would be coming home from Mary’s Mount to Birchip for school holidays. So missed you when you weren’t home.
love you xx Greg
