Tributes

  1. Simon Rigg. I only know you through your paintings. You were that rare artist that commands colour and transfers pain into ecstatic beauty. To use your passion and leverage your pain to portray the ecstasy, joy and magnificence of our world in paint. Beyond praise.

  5. Very sad to hear of Simon’s passing. Knew Simon and his brothers from their time in Olinda. Have fond memories of Simon riding past on his motorcycle with his dog on the petrol tank, ears flapping in the wind! I remember Simon as someone who was quiet, friendly, kind and generous. A great human being. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Special hello to his brother Michael – hope you are well Mick. Brett.

  6. Dear Simon
This letter comes with great regret that you will no longer be with us.
We talked about my family and I coming to visit you after you moved back to Warnambool. You were going to show us the beach, your home, your life.
I hate trying to find the right words….. gahhhh
    It’s this simple….
I hate that you’re gone. I wanted to spend more time with you as my friend.
I was a NSW girl in Vic and had no friends. You introduced me to some of your fam, not sure if I should thank you for that hahaha, loves you Amy 😆
I just think that you and your amazing family have made my moving to another state so much easier because you are you.
I love your passion for your kids, grand kids, great grand kidlets, and your beautiful Georgina. They always made your cheeks grow bigger and glow rosier. I still stand by wishing you had played Santa, you are perfect.
The way you spoke of your mum, brother Michael, kids, grandkids and great little kiddles made me feel like part of your fam. You helped me belong. Thank you.
You know I’ll hang by just to give Amy shit …. just because …. but we both know she secretly loves it 🤣
Damn, this is the part where we have to say goodbye 😔 I’ve loved our chats …. I love you!
You have no idea how much you helped me, while we thought I was helping you.

  8. I met Simon several times because he was a fellow mouth painting artist with the MFPA. He was always friendly and positive. A pleasure to touch base with him when we did speak, mostly over the phone. Sorry to hear of his passing and I hope his family are coping with the loss of their patriarch. May you rest in peace Simon.

  11. To Georgina, Family and Friends.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Simon. I lost contact with Simon some 40 years ago but remember him as a very kind and gentle soul. A couple of memorable times with Simon was a hike up Mt Feather Top and a trip to the Grampians and the little desert.
Only in his passing have I learned he was living very close to me 50 mins from my home in Dunkled
Simon will be missed by friends and family but his spirit of loving kindness will live on.

    Take care
