I was very saddened to hear of the passing of John and our deepest condolences go out to Gail and to all John’s family at such a sad time. Having worked with John for 10 years at warrnambool and working duties at the CIB with him was a great time and he was a great mentor. He had a fantastic sense of humour and was a very caring and compassionate policeman and a first grade detective. He is a great loss to the community and to all who knew him. Our thoughts are with you gail. RIP John.

KN April 13, 2022 We met John and Gail years ago in Broome and became friends immediately, not unusual for John. We remember him as a quiet, sensible, caring and witty gentle man. Drinks and meals and times together make great memories. He will be greatly missed in the caravan park this year!
To Gail and family, our thoughts are with you. Your friends will help you through this difficult time adjusting to life without John. Let them.

john vail April 9, 2022 I met Gail 20 years ago when she stayed at Birches accommodation while John was having massive surgery on his leg.
With Gail spending so much time there we clicked and bonded and we’d talk about her wonderful husband John. Gail adored John and John adored her. I had never seen such a close couple on the same page like this before.
John had a great sense of humour could talk to every one even when he was unwell
Apart from their Broome expeditions which they loved each year it was-becoming harder.
John you fought for so so long your resting time is here.
I will help take care of Gail and keep a close eye on her for you.
It gives me comfort knowing our dogs are buried together in Koroit.
I am so pleased and honoured to have had you as a friend in my life

lynette watson April 8, 2022 Dear Gail & family,
John was the most interesting great-uncle to have, and I loved spending time with him in his retirement years, especially during his boating days. So many great childhood, fishing and detective stories from John used to make time fly whenever he was around, and will be sadly missed.
