  3. We thought of Audrey as a (great) grandmother in Australia, and she treated us as her (great) grandchildren in Japan. Just to mention a few of examples: Audrey let us take over her house and massive lawn for a dream wedding party! Audrey had an especially close relationship with Chiyoko’s mum, who has been in hospital about a decade now. On Aud’s first visit to Japan they became good friends, on the second she visited her in the hospital two times – traveling for hours from our house – and wrote letters to her for years. She also knew how to enjoy life. The last time she visited, every day was full of sweet ‘special occasions.’ I can just imagine her up in heaven with Jock looking down on us all giving us a huge smile and cheeky wink as she jumps into another ice cream Sunday!
