Tributes

  1. My dear “E”, we were to meet at St Anne’s in SALE last Saturday 24/2/24. You had written me a letter to be sure to attend. I cannot believe why you didn’t make it. We were boarders together and school friends from grade 7 to Matriculation. Our birthdays were a month apart but I was the “oldest”, I would boast. Oh dear, I will miss you so much. Rest in Peace my dear friend. Jill Williams new Hughan. “Hu”

  2. Elaine and Bruce were dear friends of mine at Melbourne University. We stayed in touch over the years and I always caught up with them, then just Elaine, when visiting my home town. I last saw Elaine in May 2023; we had dinner and shared reminisces. A great lady whom I will miss.

  5. We remember Elaine with great pleasure respect and admiration.
Elaine was a warm, stimulating, wise and welcoming colleague.
Her knowledge of literature was broad. She was a feisty opponent at the card table.
The world is richer for having had you in it Elaine, and the poorer for your passing.
    Our sympathy to her family.

  6. My adored Godmother, Elaine Hill… she was an island of calm and wisdom in a mad, mad world. Elaine was a school friend of my Mum’s so has been in my life forever. It was always a delight to visit her, to chat about old times, politics, people, life – the works! We went to aquarobics together, played Scrabble, watched movies, ate.

Elaine cared and supported so many people -as a Mum, a grandma, a teacher, at Lifeline, as a friend and a wife and a community member.

She lives on in every one of us and every good deed we pay forward.

Thank you for giving Carren, Andrea and Paula such a love of literature and a solid grounding in the art of debating. You will be remembered by us all.
