  6. Dear Caz, Gordy, Berna, Chris, Jaq and families, Dad, Uncle Pat and Auntie Annie, Uncle Cyril and Auntie June and all my cousins.

I want to apologies for not being able to attend today’s celebration for my Auntie Moya, your mum, grand ma, sister, Aunty and great Aunty. I know it will be a sad but fabulous farewell. She loved her family so very much.

Auntie Moya has been a very special person in my life for as long as I can remember she has always been around so it’s going to be tough not seeing her anymore. Thank goodness for memories and photos for the time we didn’t always remember…

I remember going to visit you fellas when you had the farm just out of Camperdown across from racecourse, pushing Chris up and down the driveway in the pram while mum and Aunty Moya sat drinking copious amounts of tea and smoking ciggies, they were good friends those two.

I will always remember the parties at Auntie Moya’s and Uncle Ross’s for Nana Ruth birthdays and Christmas get together at the Simpson farm with all the Walsh kids and her brothers. She always welcomed you into her home with a huge hug and kiss and was always happy to see you and grateful that you made the effort to visit.

Auntie Moya was my second Mum and we had some awesome chats and was a shoulder I could cry on. I always came away from a visit with her feeling special, heard, full of advice but mostly feeling loved.

She got me, she understood me.

She always could tell a funny story and 9 times out of ten she was the brunt of her own stories or larrikin ways, ending with that gorgeous contagious laugh and a good knee slap. We laughed hard, drank wine like there was no tomorrow and parted ways closer each time.

She was never embarrassed to show her emotions and told stories of Nana Ruth and Grandpa Des. I learnt a lot about them from her.

She loved her brothers unconditionally and would always put them in their place if they mucked up, I can hear her say ‘oh shut up Johnny’’ She was ‘Missy’ to them and we knew they loved her deeply.

I will truly miss going to see her in her beautiful home in Camperdown or catching up at family gathering, sitting around the table yarning and sneaking out for a fag because she had given them up for the100th time!!!

She will always be my tall, beautiful, elegant, fashionable and most of all funny Aunty who was never scared to laugh at herself, and I will miss our matriarch of the Walsh clan.

There is so much more to her than these small amount of words but we can yarn about that when we are sitting around the kitchen table or at a family get-together in the future having a few wines and a ciggie reminiscing..

RIP Aunty Moya you are loved and will be forever missed.

    Love always Mellisa xxx

  8. Our Aunty Moya

What a lady, loving, funny and a trend setter to the end

Super proud of her family and shared that with a beautiful beaming smile

Loved a loud laugh backed with some in-house banter and a few wines be hers or others within arms reach

Now up and above and no question continuing her fun listening to Rosso on the spoons ( not sure Rutho would approve )

Will miss you in many ways and always will have a place in our hearts
