  4. Dear Aunty Mavis, beloved younger sister of our father, Bill Grauer.
We were the city cousins, but always felt welcome in the sunshine of your warm heart and smile.

You were a wonderful, caring person and a real overcomer, whatever challenges you faced.
We will miss your determination and spunk, mingled with laughter, a cool head, sensible caring solutions and lots of creativity. Rest in peace Mavis.

  7. In Loving Memory of Aunt Mavis

I hold dear the memories of my childhood visits to Allansford, where I spent treasured times with my Aunt Mavis, Uncle Jock, and my cousins Peter, Michelle, Gary, and Randal—before little Catherine arrived. I was very young, but those moments remain vivid and warm in my heart.

I remember Jock serving porridge for breakfast, and Mavis patiently helping me understand his thick Scottish accent—always with kindness and laughter. We swam in the Hopkins River behind the hall, where despite nearly drowning, somehow those were still joyful days. We played games at night, and I’ll admit I was a sore loser—but no one ever made me feel anything but loved.

Aunt Mavis was a woman of generosity, warmth, and love. Her home was always open, her heart even more so. She made allfeel safe, welcome, and special.

My deepest condolences to her immediate family. The world is a little dimmer without her in it—but her kindness, spirit, and love will never be forgotten.
