Tributes

  1. Such a terrific and important teacher and funny guy. You encouraged me to keep going and have been a fundamental reason I chose to teach to this day. I have many great memories of your teaching at Terang High and the knowledge you imparted on me. I am very sad to hear of your passing and wish your family all best in these difficult times and beyond.

  2. Fond memories of our lunchtime chats and volleyball games at school and random folkie catch ups after leaving school Marty. You encouraged me to pursue a career in Podiatry, which I am still enjoying 20 years on. Deepest sympathy to Susan, Sarah and James, sending love and support to you all.

  3. Exceptional teacher. I remember you saying to me at my Year 12 Graduation ‘Keep focused, study hard and you will achieve wonderful things’
Thinking of family, friends and colleagues at during this time. You had such passion and will be missed by many. I feel privileged to have been taught by you and will cherish the conversations we shared.

  5. Fond memories of Martin when we were young. Those were carefree days. Adrian, Martin & Malcolm were surf lifesavers at 13th Beach. When I first met Martin I remember him talking about wanting to cure cancer. He was a very handsome guy too.
I spent many happy times in Warrnambool as my husband’s parents lived in Koroit St. I always half expected to run into Susan or Martin. But that never happened.
My thoughts are with Susan & their children.

  6. Fondest memories of all the times spent with Martin, greeting life with empathy and enthusiasm, come what may.

The lead up throughout a long footy season to yet another competitive Cats finals campaign and the inevitable hunt for those elusive grand final tickets. His legendary stories of luck….picking up a grand final ticket on spec at the ground just before the bounce from a Salvation Army can rattler of all people!
It was a privilege sharing with him some of life’s trials and tribulations (whether on the footy field or not), hope, humour, intellect, disappointments, prospects, highs, lows and glory, always stoic, always in good spirits, despite the outcome, exemplifies our Martin

And now that he’s gone, it goes without saying that his eternal zest for life has rubbed off on all that shared him and we are so grateful that “There’s a little bit of Martin in us all”

  7. I was lucky enough to have Martin as my VCE Biology teacher at Terang High School, back in 1989. Martin was a fine teacher with enthusiam, compassion and a great sense of fun. I’ll always be grateful to him for his help in achieving my educational and career goals. Deepest sympathy to all the family.
